Richard Cooper, RCVS Specialist in Cattle Health and Production
Richard Cooper qualified as a vet from Bristol in 2002, subsequently working in Devon and New Zealand. He undertook a farm animal residency at the University of Bristol in 2008, subsequently gaining his RCVS Diploma in Cattle Health and Production and RCVS Registered Specialist status.
He completed a Master’s degree in Public Health and Epidemiology in with the Royal Veterinary College in 2018, which consolidated his love of using data to help inform decision making and policy.
Richard provides nutritional and veterinary consultancy direct to farm, as well as to dairy & beef processors, and large food retailers and food business services. He is passionate about animal welfare, having served a full eight-year term with the DEFRA’s Animal Welfare Committee, as well as providing advice to industry on existing welfare legislation & voluntary standards, and working with businesses towards welfare policy development. Richard is also a ‘data geek’ / epidemiologist and works with businesses in areas such as clinical trial design & statistical analysis, farm data collection, processing & outcome measure calculation, and interpretation of animal health & sustainability datasets.
