Richard Cooper

He completed a Master’s degree in Public Health and Epidemiology in with the Royal Veterinary College in 2018, which consolidated his love of using data to help inform decision making and policy.

Richard provides nutritional and veterinary consultancy direct to farm, as well as to dairy & beef processors, and large food retailers and food business services. He is passionate about animal welfare, having served a full eight-year term with the DEFRA’s Animal Welfare Committee, as well as providing advice to industry on existing welfare legislation & voluntary standards, and working with businesses towards welfare policy development.  Richard is also a ‘data geek’ / epidemiologist and works with businesses in areas such as clinical trial design & statistical analysis, farm data collection, processing & outcome measure calculation, and interpretation of animal health & sustainability datasets.

• Expert Witness / Exert Advisor experience; undertaken the Academy of Experts’ ‘Foundation’ and ‘Into Court’ Courses.
• Member of the RCVS Advanced Veterinary Practitioner assessor panel
• Member of the RSPCA STAG (Standards Assessment Group)
• Calf sector lead in the RUMA Targets Taskforce 2 & AHDB eMH Liaison Group
• Member of the editorial board of UK-Vet Livestock
• Member of the Action Johnes UK Retailer Group, and invited participant to the AHDB Dairy Mobility Steering Group.
