First European summit driving dairy farming toward a low-carbon future

The European dairy sector is taking action for the climate. As agricultural methane draws growing attention from the European Green Deal, which aims to make the EU the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050, Methane Connect positions itself as the leading event where the dairy sector comes together to share and implement concrete solutions. On Wednesday, November 19, in Paris, France, scientists, farmers, dairy processors, agri-food companies, and stakeholders in the dairy value chain from across Europe will gather at Methane Connect 2025, the first European summit dedicated to reducing enteric methane and transitioning to sustainable dairy farming.

An ambitious program connecting science, innovation and economic strategy:

From research to concrete action

For the first time, Methane Connect offers a comprehensive, collaborative, and practical approach to change in the dairy industry. Effective and realistic solutions will be shared to reduce methane emissions and rethink the dairy value chain. The summit program includes:

  • Round tables and interactive sessions: from measuring and certifying emissions to financing and implementing innovations in the field.
  • International case studies: sharing successful experiences at all stages of the dairy chain.
  • Thematic debates: methane and biodiversity, new technologies, soil health, regenerative agriculture, animal welfare, human health, and product appeal.
  • Networking: connecting different stakeholders in Europe and enabling them to take immediate action.

Leading speakers, experts in Europe

In a systemic vision of sustainable livestock farming, Methane Connect is not limited to methane reduction alone. It is about rethinking the sustainability of livestock farming as a whole: environmental, economic, and social. The event will highlight projects that prove it is possible to combine competitiveness, product appeal, and environmental performance.

With this goal in mind, Methane Connect brings together key players in the European dairy sector who are driving change in the industry: Nestlé, ForFarmers, IDELE, UK Dairy Climate Network (DCN), Carbon Map, Valorex, Eco-sens, Bleu-Blanc-Cœur, Groupe Bel, Danone, and others.

Agricultural methane reduction: a key climate lever

Livestock farming accounts for nearly two-thirds of global agricultural non-CO₂ greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions and around 60% of methane-related emissions from the sector.¹ However, FAO research shows that solutions exist with the potential to reduce emissions by up to 50% through a combination of levers such as genetic selection, feed, herd management, and technological innovations.²

Methane Connect is part of this dynamic, creating a space for dialogue and solutions between economic, scientific, and institutional actors.

About Methane Connect

Initiated by Valorex, an expert in animal nutrition, the Bleu-Blanc-Cœur association and Eco-Sens, Methane Connect is an annual European summit aimed at accelerating the transition to sustainable dairy farming by bringing together stakeholders in the sector around common goals: methane reduction, soil regeneration, economic value creation, and transparency for consumers.
