Stuart Thomson Senior Consultant

Stuart works with retailers, processors and farmers to design and deliver programmes that combine data, technology and practical advice to accelerate progress towards net zero and improve supply chain resilience.

Stuart is an experienced agri-food industry consultant with over 25 years’ experience spanning farming, food supply chains and sustainability. His career began at the National Farmers’ Union, where he helped launch the Red Tractor assurance scheme and advised on major industry challenges including BSE and foot-and-mouth disease.

In 2004, Stuart co-founded European Food and Farming Partnerships (EFFP), building long-term collaborations between farmers and food businesses to strengthen supply chains. Over 16 years, he led commercial services, securing strategic partnerships with leading brands and retailers.

He later joined Dyson Farming as Head of Business Development and Marketing, where he transformed the business into a consumer-facing brand, launched new products and e-commerce channels, and embedded sustainability and innovation at the core of operations.

Before joining Map of Ag, Stuart was Agrifood Market Lead at PwC UK, advising clients on resilient, traceable and sustainable sourcing strategies and developing technology-led solutions for farm-to-factory data integration.

Stuart holds a BSc in Agricultural Economics from Edinburgh University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Food and Grocery Industry Management. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and an accredited mediator.
